Brooks Beast

rated 2.5 of 5 stars
photo: Brooks Beast trail running shoe

The durability of this year's model has gone down considerably. I have used them for the last three years, and they have been great until the new style. They are lighter and lasted about a month before they became uncomfortable. New lighter material in padding is not lasting as long. Exterior of shoe is holding up fine. I changed to a different brand after two pairs in less than 4 months. I wore daily, not for running/training.

Pros

  • Stability

Cons

  • Short useful life of padding compared to older models

The Beast is known for its stability and still provides excellent stability. The interior padding on the bottom of the foot goes "flat" within a month of normal daily wear and walking.  The Beast from the last two years lasted quite a long time, even wearing them to train and work out in.

This year's model feels lighter, but the durability is lacking. I was told the material change to make them lighter is the cause. The lighter shoe is more appealing to distance runners. I will not be buying them again. They are too expensive to get only a month of comfort out of.
