Bergans Rondane 85L

rated 4.5 of 5 stars

This is the best pack I ever owned, with patented XXS carrying system. BRILLIANT.

I used for 10 days trekking in northern Sweden and Norway--above the Arctic Circle--no problems. This is a perfect size bag not too big, but you can still just strap everything onto the bag ... if you insist on trying to kill your self with too much dead weight. (extra tent, kayak, grandma ... )

There is a very good and strong zipper on front of the bag so you can access everything anytime.

I myself am an overpacker - just tend to pack too much junk. But even with aprox 22-26 kgs it was not a problem to wear the bag all day.

Nice thing is though that if you strap it in - you can take it with you on airplanes. Used it on interscandinavian flights and flights to Belgium and UK. No problems to get it with you on the plane - even though it is a tad on the big side.

A quite inexpensive and big backpack from the famous Norwegian company. It has the patented XSS-system which makes it able to distribute the weight very well, although I wouldn't recommend it for loads over 18-20kg. Has a zipper in front which makes it possible to open up to the whole pack. (Ideal for the unorganized backpacker). Very water-resistant, and with the two sidepockets going inwards it's perfect for skiing and climbing. A very comfortable pack for all but the most extreme.
