Asolo Flyer
Good fit, but terrible in the toebox.
Pros
- Fit is to size
- Wide enough in the toe box (not narrow)
Cons
- The top front has weird shape at the laces which will bite into your toes
- Not much traction or ankle support
I have been a fan of Asolo but lately it seems like their quality and build has gone down.
This shoe runs true to size, has a wider toe box so unlike many shoes out there it is not narrow which is good for wide feet. However the top of the shoe is strangely built—the edges of the shoelace bite into the toes causing quite a bit of pain. However this does subside after a mile into your walk.
I have used this shoe for urban walks and noticed that there is very poor ankle support. I did not run in it and frankly would not advise any major hiking or running on trails in this shoe. Very little support. Not even for a walk on slightly gravel roads. However on muddy surfaces it does well, so walking on trails would not be an issue after a mile or so. Did not feel any heel pain and overall it was comfortable.
This shoe is more of a casual wear but even that is hampered by the front lace issue that is mentioned above. All in all, don't waste time with it. Asolo does have other shoes that may be a better choice. This shoe very much, like the Asolo Grid, feels like an afterthought.
