Asics GEL-Nimbus 26
The perfect blend of fit, cushion, and stability for me. You can get the Nimbus 26 for less money because ASICS just came out with a new version (the 27).
Pros
- cushion
- relatively light
- relatively stable
Cons
- Really not weaknesses, but the toe box seems slightly smaller than the Gel-Kayano 30 even though both shoes are a 12 wide.
I used to suffer from a tendon issue in my foot and gravitated to running shoes with a lot of stability which fixed the issue. The ASICS Gel-Kayano 30 was my favorite shoe until I ran in the Nimbus. The Nimbus 26 is slightly heavier, has more cushion, and has enough stability for me. It comes in widths (I wear a 12 wide) which mean a wide toe box but a normal heel.
On a 5-mile run the Nimbus shaves 3 minutes off my time in Gel-Kayano 30's.
Background
Been running regularly since age 17, am now 71.
