Altra Lone Peak All-Weather Mid
These are either mid or high boots and are waterproof hiking boots. Version #1.
Pros
- light
- comfy
- waterproof
Cons
- run a little small compared to my other Altras
- take over 24 hours to dry out if you submerge them
- waterproofing not durable
Bought these to walk the dog. Although I like them enough I might just try them with a 40-pound pack. Might...because they sure do not look sturdy!
They are GREAT for walking the dog because I can hose them off and not get my socks wet, as well as being comfy, EZ to get on and off, good traction and light!
Recently took them along for stream crossings on a backpack trip Sierras. Regular boots were Oboz Bridgers (which I love BTW). The Altras work fine under water to my knees crossing streams, however they take over 24 hours to dry out completely. Until they dry out they are heavy, because they seem to be built like a sponge and really hang onto water. So...not going to do that again.
Addition to review. Lots of tread left, both shoes are leaking. Bummer, because the WP is why I bought them.
Background
Got lots of Altras (for running) and lots of hiking and backpacking boots. On my fourth German Shepherd.
