A tasty, dehydrated offering that succeeds where most others fail.

Pros

  • Water ratio is accurate.
  • Very flavorful
  • Easy-to-use package
  • LOW SODIUM!

Cons

  • None that come to mind

I was very surprised when I saw that some of the AlpineAire offerings received low scores. My first experience with their food was perfect. For the most part, when I use dehydrated meals, the recommended water amount either turns it to soup or leaves it extremely al dente. That was not the case here.

I tried the Chicken Tropicana and it was great. The water was completely absorbed and the food itself was well hydrated and recognizable, but not soupy. The flavor was fantastic and I enjoyed eating it. It is a meal that I would gladly try again.

The bag has measuring lines so you can still get an accurate water pour even if you don’t have a measuring cup. The bag stood up well on its own, and kept the food hot while still being cool enough to handle without insulation.

One great benefit for me is the fact that this particular meal is low sodium (compared to many others). Each serving only has 350 mgs of sodium. That’s good news for anyone with high blood pressure or other issues that require reduced sodium intake.

All in all, it is one of the best dehydrated meals I have ever eaten, and that includes Freezer Bag meals I have prepared. Looking forward to trying some other flavors.

Background

I have eaten many commercial dehydrated meals, and I also create my own Freezer Bag meals.
