Adidas Response Trail 9
The traction is fantastic and stability (particularly on technical descents) is superb. They're a heavy shoe, but don't feel overly heavy on the trail. They size small, I've gone up a full size and they still feel snug. The lacing system and build are excellent.
Pros
- Stability
- Traction
- Solid build
Cons
- Weight
- Small sizing
Had these for three months and used them a fair bit trail running on steep muddy trails over winter in Wellington, New Zealand. The traction is fantastic and stability (particularly on technical descents) is superb. In mud and on wet rock they've proved excellent, as good or better than my Vibram soled hiking boots.
The midsole is reasonably stiff, but I've not found an issue, and have had no problems out of the box.
Very supportive with a good technical insole.
They're a heavy shoe, but don't feel overly heavy on the trail. They size small, I've gone up a full size and they still feel snug. The lacing system and build are excellent. One weird point is that the heel stabiliser flares are quite wide, so I find on narrow trails they catch/brush my inner ankles as I run.
Background
Runner since 1987, back into trail running recently (two decades off after knee surgeries, and children).
