insoles
Wanting to know if anyone has tried the heat mold-able insoles, such as the ones made by SOLE, they are expensive and I would want a pretty strong recommendation before I would buy them. I am currently using superfeet.
Here is the SOLE link.

Re: insoles
I have a pair of SOLE insoles, the Ed V. model. They felt great for a good year+. I didn't mold them, only slapped them into a pair of shoes. I really should put them into my Asolos and see how the feel. Have also used several models of Superfeet, mostly greens.

Re: insoles
I use the thermofit footbeds in my mountaineering and backcountry ski boots. They make life a lot more comfortable. But I get along fine with Superfeet in my trail runners and lighter-weight hiking boots.

Re: insoles
I bought a pair and thermofitted them as directed.
I hike on rough rocky terrain and I felt that the Soles compressed down fairly quickly. It's back to the Superfeet greens for me

Re: insoles
soles have more direct arch support.
superfeet are designed to indirectly support your arch thru "rear foot stabilization". the rolling of your calcaneus (the roundish bottom of your hell) is what often causes the elongation of the planar facia ligament and thus your arch lengths and flattens out.
most people buy superfeet by the length which is incorrect .. you should size them by the fit of your calcaneus into the superfeet heel cup. superfeet life span varies based upon frequency of usage, etc.. but regardless of which insert you choose, you should use the insert as often as possible. many people swap the inserts from sneakers to boots to casual shoes.
i have had people benefit form superfeet and others benefit better form soles. buyt the products from a store like rei who will allow a full credit if the product does not meet your needs. also, both manufacturers offer satisfaction guarantees.
remember that regardless of the product, it will take a couple weeks for your feet to acclimate to the enhanced support and (hopefully) reduction in elongation and movement.

Re: insoles
Superfeet green have worked wonders for me in boots.
I am thinking of switching to hiking in trail runners though; I am hoping the green will still fit and I don't have to go with the thinner blue ones.

Re: insoles
Hi mattblick, I hike in a pair of Merrils, and backpack in a pair of old school Alico full grain leather boots, I can switch insoles, but the fit in my hikers is tight.
I guess majority likes the superfeet greens.

Re: insoles
I put the SOLES (high use red/black) through 21 days of hell: nearly 200 miles of hiking through piedmont forest and sand, with anywhere from 60 to 100 Lbs and they held up awesome.
