Pack Exchange Gregory?

I recently had knee surgery and am getting old so I am trying to gear up and get some backpacking in before it is too late.

Before my surgery I actually purchased a Gregory Lassen Pack but am now thinking I may have made a bad choice, only because of the weight of the pack. I am of large build so the pack being a larger size even made it heavier. I think it is pushing 8lbs empty. I made my first pack trip early this year and ended up with 40lbs which felt fine at the start. The pack itself is very comfortable.

I am now wanting to change my way of thinking and gear up for ultra-lite packing, light anyway.

So what would be a good comparable pack only much lighter? I am hoping to stay int the same price range as the Lassen pack, less would be more helpful as I still need a tent and pretty much all of the other accessories and my budget is stretched.

Many thanks!,
LS
