Re: Park Rangers Take Public on Podcasting Adventure
I think this is a great idea, last time I did a self guided car tour I was given a cassette tape which contained both narrative and driving directions.
At first I thought it was a little cheesy, but it worked quite well and allowed me to move at my own pace and I learned a lot.
This was in the late 80's at Chickamauga National Battlefield in northwest Georgia. (civil war battlefield)
They have a large collection of guns, gear, & personal effects. The park conducts re-enactments as well as cannon firing demonstrations. Now that's a piece of gear I would love to have.
I got to experience all that because someone told me about the self guided tape tour, so I think the podcasts are a great idea if it will help garner the support and awareness of the newer generation. It is also a good way for the Rangers to duplicate themselves and be more effective, especially with the budget constraints they are dealing with.
