Homemade energy bars

I'm looking for some good energy bar recipes! Preferably chewy, not crispy, and using as many healthy ingredients as possible (eg. nuts, dates, oats and dried fruit, rather than candies and chocolate chips), with a good balance of protein, carbs and fat. Taste tests, anyone?

You can find 16 recipes at this web site, but make sure you give this stuff a trial run at home in terms of taste and shelf life. You do not want food poisoning in the backcountry, or bars that taste so bad you would rather eat dirt. Just a little something I learned the hard way !

Enjoy

jeeez, almost forgot. If you don't have one, a vacuum packing system is the way to go. I don't trust plastic wrap on backpacking trips, it is not air/water tight.
